Most FoMoCo service instructions refer to SAE 90 gear lubricant. Some folks use heavier SAE 140 and some use semi fluid lubricants as prefered. With SAE 90, you have to have a good sector shaft seal so it won't leak out.
Thanks for info,
I was told to use 600 weight,But that seems to be over kill.
I think I'll try the 140 weight first. If it leaks out I'll try something heavier
Menno
i used 1/2 grease and half 90 /140 gear oil,,seems to work OK,,of course if the shaft bushings are a little loose and seal is already ruined the oil may creep thru the grease and weep out..,,might be wise to think about a new seal,,
Some model A guys, me included are using penrite stg box lube , 1200W, NO leaks and works great, available from restoration supply, escondido, CA. Do a search on the A forum.
