Hi Mike-
I have a complete F1 steering gear here (less wheel). It will need rebuilding. The sector shaft is good. The wheel doesn't have any pitting and turns smoothly and the shank that runs in the bushings has only .001 inch measurable wear.
The worm gear is rusted and will need replacing, as well as the upper and lower bearings and races. These parts are all available at Joblot Automotive (www.joblotauto.com).
The only other major issue is that the tube that is part of the bottom plate and slips up inside of the steering shaft had rusted in and twisted off in the shaft when the plate was removed. It can be drilled out, or, if you are not planning on running the original horn wire, the bottom plate can be tapped for a pipe plug and used as is.
