F1 Steering Box 48-52

I have a left hand drive F1 steering box and want to have the pitman arm vertical instead of hanging down. Can I just change the worm gear to right hand drive in this left hand drive box so the pitman arm rotates in the right direction?

Not sure what your project is. But i do know that a cross steer 37 to 48 car box which uses the same sector and worm. If you mount it like a 48 to 52 f1 you have to flip the pitman arm to pointing up.

Sorta' confusing. The pitman arm rotates both directions from a center point whether its vertical or horizontal.

I'm thinking I could use a right hand drive worm gear but I would also need a right hand drive sector shaft. The gear on the end of the sector shaft is at an angle. I would need the same shaft with the opposite angle.
Thanks Skidmarks, I didn't think about using a cross steer box. I have one, I'll see if it will work.
I'm not sure I'll even be able to find a right hand drive F1 box or sector shaft.

If you use the cross steer box turned on its side. To get the pitman arm to line up were you want it depending on the angle of the column you have to split the 4 wide indexing splines in half with a triangle file or a hacksaw blade. The you can put the pitman arm on in any direction.

Does anyone have a right hand drive sector shaft or box? The box that I'm using is the F1 1948-1952 box. The internal are the same as the 1937-48 car box. I think I could us a sector shaft from any one of these boxes if it's right hand drive. The sector roller is at an angle and should be the oposit angle for right hand.

Check with Fred Wilner at SS Obsolete, he has NOS sector shafts. NOS worm gears are tough to find because they are what usually needs to be replaced. There are imported repop ones out there at a couple of the CA Ford parts vendors,
