Extra Front Coil?

Do all 48 f1's have a coil mounted to the top of the leaf springs for added suspension? My front end sits higher than the rear and I got looking at it and it seems that there is a coil spring rigged in a weird way under each side of the front end. I would think if it would be a ridability thing there would be one on the back as well. Looks like there held in place with muffler clamps. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a home built suspension mod to me. I've never seen anything like that on anything that I have messed with.

I remember seeing auxiliary coil springs with an extension of the side of the base. The base had a concave bottom shaped to fit on a rear axle and held on with a U-bolt clamp.

Helper springs make sense on the back, but his opening post says they are on the FRONT end. That one doesn't make sense to me, because he says that he would expect to see some on the back, too, which would be what 40cpe described.

Did some more looking last night and yeah I think it is a home made setup to help make the front tires clear the fender. Never liked the stance the truck had and now it all makes sense. Thanks guys for the input. Luke

I didn't notice that, but the front tires are way bigger than they need to be so my guess is that they are for fitment reasons.
