Experiences With 3.27 & 3.54 Gears

As has been said, Don't run 3.27 in mountainous or even very hilly areas. I think that if you have better than 60 HP under the hood you'll probably be alright. I went for a 3.54 in my coupe with a shaved head and a bored out A manifold and B carb. I estimate it's about 48-50 HP. Very near my home is a 700' high hill, I estimate an 8% grade and it would make the coupe scream for mercy in 2nd and it would die in third with the 3.78. I hated that hill! I put the 3.54 in and it climbs much better. Why? Not sure! I think it's because of being able to wind it up tighter in second. Any way It runs better in every way! Mileage, top end, hill climbing A and acceleration. I'm happy with it!
