Im preparing a motor for a swap and have a few threads that need repair on the exhaust ports. Anyone used the "time-sert" system before? Anything any better?

Hi Everyone. johndee138, I had to repair threads on my off-brand tow vehicle's exhaust manifold bolt holes last summer after a previous owner botched the job. Time-Sert is what my advisers recommended and what was used.

http://www.timesert.com/ for a bunch of videos, some are shill adverts, but still information.

I prefer the insert type (like the Time-Sert) to heli-coil type repairs. With the insert type just be sure you have adequate space for the larger hole required.

We mostly use the heli-coils, but there are others mentioned here that will work just fine.

Try your best to keep all the thread repairs as straight as possible. We are fortunate enough to have bushings when drilling/tapping.

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. Above here, I believe Jack may be asking the location because the fronts are 7/16-14's, not 3/8-16's. Common mistake by many!
