exhaust manifold

Have a leak at where the manifold meets the block. Looks like its been this way for years. Thinking its probably best to replace the manifold.

What i'm worried about is what are my chances of getting the bolts\nuts off? They look like they have been on there a long long time. I assume a good impact gun is my best bet, but how often do these just snap off in the block?

Thanks,

Chris J.

If you are worried about those breaking, soak them well, first, with a 50/50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Soak them several times.
The guys on the V8 side, swear by this mixture. You have to shake it. It will separate. Good Luck !

When I removed mine, I soaked them for about 3 days with the above acetone/atf mixture applied with a small bottle with almost a hyperdermic needle spout, I also ordered new studs, nuts washers in advance (just in case, murphy's law you know). Wasn't sure when they'd been off last, car restored in late 80's and acquired this spring with 615 miles on it. Came right off.
