Exhaust Manifold

A couple of years ago I had the A engine rebuilt. I now find I made the mistake in installing studs in the block for the manifold and due to a failed gasket I'm now unable to remove the manifold as it hits the steering box.
Would I get enough movement by undoing the float a motor kit ?.
Anyone else had this problem ?.

usually a manifold can be moved out far enough to allow removal of the old and replacement of the new gaskets.

I wonder if one could remove the nuts and washers, there by gaining enough thread to "double nut" the studs in order to remove them. It just might work.

How tight is it? Would jacking up the motor or pivoting the steering column down help? Never thought of this issue as I don't have right hand drive. :)

if you installed the correct studs and the manifold won't come off because it hits the steering box I guess Henry screwed up.LOL

I suspect non original length of studs/non original manifold as I've never encountered this problem on RHDs ( or LHDs for that matter). I also endorse #4 Oldsbike's suggestion.

There are nuts that are called half nuts as they are only half the thickness of a normal
nut you could get two of those on there and try removing the studs.

Thanks all for your input. I will try all the suggestions and see how I go.
It's an excuse to stay in the shed for a while.
