What do you fordbarners use for exhause manifold paint?? The last I used flacked and came off after only a month or so. I bought it from Brattons. Is there a paint that works and will withstand the heat?

Thanks in advance......... :)

I use I think is called VHT paint. I bought it at the auto parts store. It is like a silver gray color. I have had it on mine for over 3 years and still looks ok. it is a high temp paint

I used VHT high temp paint called "NEWCAST" and it looked just like a new casting. You're supposed to run the engine to bake the paint on within 24 hours, which I did. My manifold looked great for about 3 or 4 years, but could stand a new coating now.

I used a rust-o-leum product that is made for 2000 degrees. Blasted the manifold nice and clean and then applied the paint. Cured it exacly according to the directions in the oven (don't tell my wife). I've only run the enigne a dozen or so times, couple of long runs, but it looks really nice so far.

Dumb question, Tom: do you remember if that VHT paint is gloss, semi, or flat?

I used Seymour "Cast Blast", part number 16-2668. It looks quite close to raw cast iron, and after a year and a half and a hundred or so miles of driving, it looks EXACTLY the same as the day I applied it. I applied it to a freshly bead-blasted repro manifold, and oven baked it like the directions said.

I think the key to using any of these products is to first sand or bead blast the manifold and then try not to handle it so you do not get the oils from your skin into it. I also use MEK or Acetone to really clean it one more time just prior to painting it.

This is what I do.

I used cast blast from Snyders. I wire brushed a rusty exhaust manifold clean, washed it down with enamel reducer and dried it off before spraying . It looks a lot like new cast iron and still looks good to me after five years.

Anyone else use this stuff? Calyx-manifold-coating, I brushed it on my 53 exhaust manifold with an old tooth brush and 7 yrs later it still looks the same. Stinks for the first few drives. Takes a very little amount of product to cover the whole manifold. Only con to me is that it only comes in cast-iron finish.

Eastwood sells it, but I want to say I bought it from macs.

Haven't had much luck with paints for extended finish. Maybe I'm not prepping well enough but it always seems to burn off after a few years.

The high temp paint from a local parts store works. I used it on my 8N tractor and huckster and they are still both is good shape.

I've had good luck with Eastwood's exhaust manifold paint. Like other's have said, the key is in the preparation before applying the coating.

Newly finished car and brand new rebuilt engine/compartment. I did not want some brown rusty thand in my engine compartment and I had some extra cash in my pocket so I sprung for a ceramic coated manifold. No I am glad I did.

Tom, I got tired of painting my exhaust manifold. I purchased a manifold from Brattons Part # 13700 with baked cast iron finish. Photo attached. Looks Great! No more painting.
