I am currently replacing the exhaust on the ole 31 tudor. The parts supply sent me a tube of silicone for the pipe to manifold connection. Is this what is used or do most use a gasket or both ?? Thanks

I would never use a gasket since it will make the clamp fit worse. A touch of exhaust gasket cement should fill any gaps. I only use Aries exhaust and it has a good fit.
Many of the older cheaper exhaust pipes had the wrong bend at the front, and I've corrected them by inserting a 4 foot pipe and pulling out some of the bend while standing on the pipe by the muffler.

I always use a sleeve ( though I know some people don't like them) and exhaust cement.
