Excelsior 21" radials?

Has anyone tried these tires? I'm particularly curious as to whether there's any way the 21" rims can conquer the phenomenon of a grooved road taking control of your car and zig-zagging you around however it wants. I had a few such disconcerting episodes on the way home from the MARC Perrysburg meet, while neither of the two other guys we were traveling with even knew which road sections I was referring to: They both were driving on 1935 Ford rims with 600x16 tires.

I've tried them, and I just don't like the looks of those 16" tires on my Town Sedan.

Don't know about the 21 inchers, but I am totally sold on the 5.50R19s I just put on my pickup.

FYI: '36 Ford rims were not wires.

I recently asked a friend who has had a tire business for many years about putting radials on an "A". He said the only question he has is what would the wobble in our original rims have on how the tire tracks. As we all know our original rims do not run as true as a conventional rim. Maybe Carl could answer this question.

Regardless of what tire you put on your Model A wheels, the wheels should run true. My wheels all test out within specs, and I have no perceived "wobble" at all. My wife commented the other day that "those new tires certainly do run smoother than the old ones did."

Of course the next statement was: "When are you going to fix the seat?"

Any NEW tire is probably going to handle and run better than what many of us may be riding on. JMO I'm running F/stones from the late 80's and doing fine.
Paul in CT Except for one tire which gets about 4 lbs new air each
Spring, the rest of the air is from the 80's also :D:D:D.

Don't see how going from 4.50 to 6.00 will fixes tracking problems.

Radials are a lot of money ... to find the problem was old hard tires or slop in the steering/alignment.

Or that the 21 inch radials hit the brake rods?
(4.69 wide to 5.80)

Or that the 1.3 inch increase in overall diameter has an impact on the brakes.
(30.8 Firestones to 32.10 radial)

I ran Excelsior 16" bias tires and then switched to the radials last year. Well worth the extra money in my book.
