Evening Drive in the Merc

Short drive in the Merc this evening to see how the crops are doing. Cool and windy and the heat from the flathead felt good. https://youtu.be/tJQruHzXhIk

Hey Ralph with that sluggish acceleration you’re not going to break any land speed records, but at least it’s still chugging along. Are you going to get to work on that Mercury pickup any time soon?, if I wasn’t in another country I’d come and help you work on it.

Hi Mark. The Merc cruises pretty good at highway speed here. Just takes a while to get up there.:)
The old truck has had no attention lately. Engine seized up solid and I know it was well worn even back when it was in use in the 1970s. Those old trucks were geared like a tractor and rode like a "lumber wagon" to use an old expression. But one day it might just get some attention.

Nice drive and crop tour,Ralph. Wish we had some of your 60F temps here today...it's 102F with high humidity. Winter wheat harvest has started here in KS so lots of grain moving.

Wow. too hot for me. And the Merc too I suspect. I don't plan any long trips with it when the temp is even close to 90. I can recall just one day when it hit 40C which I think is around 100 F. I left the Merc home that day and took the Chevy II to the car show. They handle the heat without a problem. It was pretty intense and I spent most of the time in the shade.
