Escutcheons for a 1935

The escutsheon plates on the inside door and window handles on my 35 coupe are colored plastic. I'm sure they are reproduction. Question is; are the original ones metal that are painted. I would not think plastic would of been used back than.

Deluxes had taupe pyroxilene enamel painted handles; the winders had an ivory plastic knob, these were backed up with taupe colored plastic escutcheons. Standards had butler finish nickel plated handles [including the winder knobs] and the metal escutcheons were likewise finished in the same nickel finish. This information is correct for Canadian manufactured export cars. Over the years the deluxe plastic escutcheons tend to turn inside out, and are normally replaced with painted metal ones. Brian
