Erratic Stumble

Check the ignition wires with an ohmmeter - should not have resistance. I would not use resistor plugs on a 6v system, use H10C. Consider the fact that the engine has only 200 miles and still tooooo tight.

Bill, good point! I hadn't thought about it being essentially a new engine. It's been years since the rebuild...I need to drive it more!

Bill O has a point if its only 200 miles then yes it will tighten up when hot .The Ht wires would unlikely be the problem but solid core wires are best ,As above I would look for a bad contact somewhere open up the distributor and check that the point springs are not close to ground or

If I remember correctly my single 97 rebuild from you Uncle Max was only about $165. A very fair price for a beautiful job.

I have never charged that much and would appreciate it if you deleted this post.

Sorry Max, the man was asking for a "Ball Park" cost. Relying on my memory, I thought I had paid about $250 per carb. I just looked back and I see that I paid closer to $225 each for the rebuilding of my 3 97's, not the $250 per carb as stated. I regret that I relied on my memory and sorry for any trouble I've caused.
Phil

Sorry Uncle Max, my CRS kicked in, I just looked at the invoice and actual price for recond was $195. Still well worth this.

OK, I'm feeling good about the couple second tough cranking when hot diagnosis being attributed to it being a fresh and tight engine. The stumble doesn't have anything to do with being tight. I've got a couple more weeks of driving before I put the car to bed for the winter. I'll have a bunch of time to look at any carb or distributor problems.

To be fair to all that replied, I asked for a "ball park" price and the responses were good enough. I wanted to know if it was going to be $50 or $800 per carb. I got a price from Max via PM and I feel it's very reasonable. Guess I should have avoided the question of price on the open forum and asked him directly.
