Engine Stumbling

Folks,

I have a question about a small problem I'm having on my 49 Tudor with flathead v8. It has the stock manifold and carb. When I have to stop hard or if I purposely stop quick, the engine will start to stumble. If I have to come all the way to a complete stopp heard, the engine will stumble and die. Slow stops, no problemo. What is this possibly telling me, an issue with float height maybe?

Thanks a bunch

firepower is right, float level is wrong, either to low or to high, if you dont have a way to measure the float hight, turn the carb top upside down, adjust the float so when it is level with the carb top base it will be close, that way the fuel should be half way up the float when the needle and seat is closed, a back yard mechanic way to adjust it
