Engine splash pans

Just restored a 1925 Coupe and have the original engine splash pans. I assume the tabs attach to the engine oil pan bolts on the underside of the oil pan. The side that attaches to the frame? Do they attach to the underside of the bottom frame channel or to the top side of the lower frame channel?
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

The tabs should be on underside of the oil pan. Loosen up (but not remove) the required oil pan bolts and slide the tabs in. The engine splash pans then attach to the underside of the frame rails.
 
Whatever approximates "level" Race. Believe mine were on top of the top rail. Not sure though. However they sat flat.
