My response to your comments is above in Red, -and my apologies to Bob for this going off-topic.
Not bothering to quote the entire thing, but we are in a Model A forum discussing "upgrading"/"modernizing" a Model A engine with insert type bearings found pretty much every car past the 1940's.
You're stating that everyone should open up and "maintain" your insert bearing engines by checking them, and I'm saying there is no one who does that, and that there isn't a manual anywhere that is telling you to do so. So yes discussing a 1955 manual is on topic.
People can choose between inserts, babbitt, or bubblegum for all I care. An insert bearing motor can last 250,000 miles without any "maintenance" and that's probably the main reason why someone would want to get to an insert bearing "upgrade". No if there are insert bearing failures, and they are caused by definable circumstances like Model A cranks are soft, bad installations, poor oil quality, etc that's a different topic than someone didn't check their clearances, which no one will ever do.
