Engine rpm's

If I use the formula for calculating engine rpm's (click below) for our 46 and input 60 mph, tire diameter 27" (600-16), 3.78 rearend and 1-1 transmission ratio (high gear) I get 2822 rpm's. If I input 40 mph, tire dia 27", 3.78 rearend, and 1.6 for second gear I get 3010 rpm. So if I am doing this right, we should be able to cruise all day at 60mph with out over reving. Correct??? We are leaving Friday on a 1800 mile trip and have to use some interstates. Maybe we will have a Mitchell overdrive before our next long trip.
Thanks
John

Absolutely, Back in the mid 60's, when I was in college, I drove my '39 at Interstate speeds every week (70+ MPH 100 miles each way) for two semesters. It is pure stock 221 with 6.00X16's and 3.78:1 gears. It never once complained. No reason yours shouldn't do the same providing it is in reasonably good condition.
