Engine rebuilders

Hello,
I have an original 239 V8 in a 1950 Custom. It has low compression on several cylinders and hasn't run in about 15 years. However, it has been garage kept during all of that period. I would like to find an engine rebuilder in Texas or the Southwest that could overhaul this engine. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you.

Rotorwrench is in Arlington as well, send him a PM for a recommendation of a flathead machine shop.

Here are a few with good reputations, that club members or I have used.
No particular order.

welcome to the "Barn.....what kind of compression figures are you looking at??....maybe if the engine could be started and run, the compressions might come up.....and pics??....Mike

I agree. Give her a chance. That engine may come back to life. Get it running and see what happens. She may surprise you.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions.

I will contact the shops mentioned and also see continue to work on her to get running.

I haven't measured the compressions except with thumb in spark plug hole, but about 3 cylinders are pretty flat. Perhaps stuck valves because it backfires through exhaust when trying to accelerate. Also smells rich and smokes.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this : three words - "Marvel Mystery Oil". Some in the gas tank, some in the oil, and some drizzled down the carb while running at a fast idle. Give those valves a chance to unstick!
