i have already gotten all the valves out the engine is down to individual pieces, ill try and post some pictures but most likely wont get around to it until next week.
Bob in terms of tools, my grandfather who the care originally belonged to was a mechanic and left me all of his tools i have 3 full sets of standard wrenches as well as 3 sets of sockets and a set of the long sockets all up to 1 1/2 inch, all size wrenches, torque wrench, pliers, vice grips etc. screw drivers, a full tap set, bench grinder, adjustable wrenches, almost all of it is snap-on form the 50's retro but dam well made. I also have access to an engine crane from a friend he runs a small local shop so i can most likely get hold of any really strange tools i don't have. In terms of experience i have been working on cars for about 3 years now, did alot of work on gas powered model RC cars for years before that. did alot of work on a porsche 924s every thing but an engine rebuild for all intensive purposes. Would consider my self quite mechanically inclined going to college for computer engineering with a minor in mechanical engineering.
There are no head studs in the engine i intend on putting fresh ones in.
the block does not appear cracked
the walls of the cylinder are not scratched to the touch but they look scratched as if some one rubbed them very hard with steal wool and left it
