Does anyone have color photos of their 40 engine? I am going to paint mine and would appreciate the photos so I could see how they should be or the way you've done yours. Thanks!

Here are a few of my '40 passenger car...The engine is dirty but you can get the idea, Karl

I suggest you buy a copy of "The 1940 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 Club (earlyfordv8.org or most major suppliers) and use it for colors.

Thank you Karl for the photos. They will be helpful.

Charlie, I do have The 1940 Book but the photos are not in color. It is helpful and describes many aspects of the engine but not always with a photo.

I met Frank Epperly at the Hawk Mtn chapter of the EFV8CA and took some pics of his fine 40' Standard coupe. He's owned it since 1962 and Frank is as knowledgable on 1940 fords as they come. He carries a little book in his shirt pocket with notes on his car he has recorded for nearly 50 years. Great guy and very heplful!

It's a '40 engine in a '40 but probably not quite what you had in mind...

Re: engine photos TOM

Tom,
Your engine color sure looks like the one I posted. If it is not correct, what is? Colors can look different depending on the lighting. John

Thanks Old Ford for the photos. It would be so much easier on an engine stand than inside the engine compartment!

John, Tom's engine looks like it is painted '46 -'48 Ford Blue. My '39 is the same green as your '40. Vic
