Back in the 1960s when I first got into Model A Fords, it was standard practice with old timers to get rid of the things if a car had engine compartment pans. Most cars however a generation or so before had them ripped them off. Remember, right or wrong, the pans being considered a fire hazard for leaky Zenith carb dripped accumulated gasoline. There are two or three of the pans hanging on a nail in the garage here that may one day get installed in the 31' heap. Car is suppose to heat n' cool and operate better with the pans in place.
