Engine coming out

Well 54 years of sitting. I get it running and after about an hour of run time it starts knocking. Was going to start pulling the pan tonight and dropped the oil out and it was already very thick and about as gross as the 60 year old oil ,lumpy and all.
So a run down on pulling the engine and correct or add what I might miss please.

radiator shroud, radiator, headlight bar, drive line ball cap, brake linkages, exhaust, rear motor mount bolts [ looks like 2 or 4 on each side ] 1 bolt center front, starter rod, battery cables, ignition wires, gen wires , And Pull . Am I missing anything important?

It sat for 54 years and you started it without changing the oil? Or you changed it and it came out like 60-yr-old oil?

Go buy Les Andrews' book Vol I before you start, then you'll have everything covered fer shure.

But to answer your post:
Stock setup: 4 rear engine bolts, safety wired, 2 on each side. Front motor mount: 2, one on each side of the Y mount. You shouldn't have to disconnect your brakes. Remove the throttle linkage before you try to lift the engine. I also remove the starter, generator, and manifolds. Make sure you take out ALL of the flywheel bolts. Wouldn't hurt to remove your distributor, and be careful around your T-box when you lift the engine out. Raise your ****** slightly with a floor jack as you're raising the engine, to keep everything in line. Keep the ****** supported after engine removal.

I assume you mean the wishbone at the ball when you say "drive line ball cap".

Oh no I changed all the fluids first, pulled the starter, carb and distributor, cleaned and lubed them all before trying to start it.
Already took off the throttle and timing linkages. I am pulling the trans too so I can clean all the gunk off of it and paint it all while it's out. Ball cap so the driveline comes out???

You will maybe fine that all the oil grooves in the rods, and mains had condensation, and built up rust, and has the print of the oil grooves in the shaft and when you run it with out taking it apart and cleaning first, all the rust build up ate up your bearings.

That is why every so often you turn the motor over.

Need to undo the clamp holding the armor cable to the top of the block.

That armor cable has some SERIOUS PULL to hold the block in the chassis.

:D

Well, the board has been known to be a "one-up."

But we're all just trying to help. Truly...
