Engine color, 34 4 cyl engine built in Canada?

I've '33 Canadian four and its original engine and transmission color was the typical "Ford engine green" of the period although I'm aware that some period engines and transmissions (V-8s and fours) were originally painted gray in both Canada and the U.S. The photo below is of a U.S. '32 V-8 transmission case with its original gray paint.

I realize this is an extremely old thread, but the photo is a great copy of what's in your book.

do you or anyone else know what this grey color actually was? name or code to have some made?

thanks!
Zach

I would suspect that the grey on the subject 32 transmission case would be very "close" if not the same grey used on Fordson Tractors. Some of the 9N, 8N, 2N tractor parts suppliers carry a "medium Ford grey" (see link) which I bet would work. The subject of the chroma and hue of "greys has been a topic of conversation amongst my Ford Jeep group.....as I used a color from dupli color (as suggested by a trusted restorer and parts source for the GP) on my porto-type Ford Jeep called "new ford grey" (d-1611 i think) which is "slightly" lighter (white-er) than OR from the other perspective, the medium ford grey has a slightly more blue-ish tent to it!!! As you can see, pictures and camera's don't accurately portray the true color as the new for grey doesn't look in person near as white as it appears in my photos. ALSO against a very dark back ground, it appears more "white" than to the eye in person!!!

Thank you! I was wondering if it would end up being the fordson color.
To be clear, I said I "suspect" and I don't know for certain....but judging from David's photo he posted and the medium grey I linked, it sure looks like it!!!!
PLUS it would make perfect sense as that color grey would have been very close at hand and very quickly acquired at a point of potentially desperate need!!!!

IF it helps any, I did find this which references through 1932!!!

" The following is a recipe for the Fordson red and grey used thru 1932. You will have to contact a Ditzler dealer to decode the numbers. The numbers are a code, i believe the first number is a color and the last number is grams needed of that shade.
The following will mix one quart of grey:
DMR 475-12
DMR 440-26
DMR 486-74
DMR 491-278
DMR 400-398
DMR 490-418
DXR 495-438
DMR 499-1074

This is a transmission case that I found at Hershey to pair with my 32 V8 engine. It appears like it was grey and painted over with green. Is this possible from the factory? It's not holding onto much paint but when you make it wet the grey really shows. The green you can see bits of in another photo.
