Engine blocks to be magnafluxed

Hi Don,
Sounds like you did ok with your 6 good blocks. Just wondering If you have a good 31 block with the engine # starting with A47------- I am in the market for a good rebuildable 31 block. Jim Sinclair, Kenosha,WI

Is it possible to stich the cracks from the cylinder to the valve seat? Is this a reasonable repair?

From what I have read on this site it seems that the water jacket cracks are repairable with stiching or jb weld.

Would like to hear from some of the experts on what the specific criteria is when it should be repaired or junked.

Thanks

That would depend on what you consider repairable I have a welding shop and have repaired unrepairable blocks before. I preheat them and tig weld silicon bronze on outside repairs and different types of nickle and / or stainless to inside the valves or combustion area. you might think about this before you junk it especially if it has a small or stock bore.
