that is a drain for the heater depending on how it is heated and the size ie: gas oil electric be careful you dont burn it out. also you may want to run a hose for a short time to clear the sediment that will be there if you have never drained it

The heater will be full of sediment ,as mentioned .The faucet will be full of it also and might not shutoff when you are done .I doubt that you will burn it out .You will probably run out of hot water .Jmo

i'll do the drain thing first.

it crossed my mind about

cleaning for awhile and then let

water heater catch up.

if somebody wants to 'gold plate' this.

we have a 'Oro Grow' water and plant food

attachment around here.

somebody could use something like that

to add detergent to hot water spray.

Have A Nice Day!

From the photos of the engine you posted before, I doubt hot water blasting directly out of the bottom of the water heater will phase the gunk.
I suggest first using a dull narrow putty knife to scrape off most of the gunk, followed by wire brush, then wash down with gasoline and old shop towels, followed by final wipedown with decent shop towels soaked in mineral spirits.
I would also suggest drying the surface good with clean cloth before applying a high temperature engine enamel. I would not recomment using the ceramic paint as it washes off with oil or any type of solvent no matter how long it has baked on.

Daves 55, I have had very good luck with the rattle can paint, high temp engine enamel with ceramic from O'Reillys. I clean the parts well, and right before I spray the paint I wash the part down with acetone or laquer thinner, and blow it dry with the air hose. I found that paint to be the best rattle can paint I have ever used.

Ole Don, If I'm ever down your way, I'll give you the ceramic red spray paint cans I still have here. I think I have some silver ceramic too.
I think that stuff is worthless.
One drop of oil or gasoline on it and it is ruined, even after it had baked on several months. And I never paint over an unclean surface. I am very meticulous about cleaning before painting anything.

back at the ranch here.:)

going to make first past plain old hose.

a lot of what's my little drivetrain is dust.

painting is way off sometime.

don't paint trans anyhow, it radiates heat

better unpainted.

Have A Nice Day!
