Engine advice needed

Hi everyone,
I have a question for the engine gurus here. I found a 1929 engine on Craigslist, it was described as having good compression and no obvious defects, I figured it would be a great rebuildable block to have as a spare for my 1930 tudor that I've had for 27 years now. I got it home and removed the head, it looks great with a tiny hint of ridge at the top, no cracks that I could see anywhere. I looked into the exhaust ports and found something troubling, the valve guide bosses have chunks out of them from the top, it looks like somebody replaced the guides with a ham handed technique and smacked the bosses a bit. My question is this... does this damage render the block non rebuildable? It looks like the remainder of the bosses have enough beef left on them but I'm not an expert. I was thinking of just smoothing outthe chunked out areas with a Dremel and hope for the best. The engine cost only $150 so I won't be out a fortune if is is scrap.
Thank you!

Did someone install the new one piece guides?
Whether they did or not, as long as the guides are good, the support pieces of cast won't be a big deal.

Thank you gents, I appreciate your quick friendly and experienced input. I was just going to try to fire the engine up but I don't trust the oil passage ways to the bearings so I'll probably take it apart, clean it all and check clearances first, at least now I can go ahead. Thank you all again!
