last year my friend and i flew to las vegas on our way to bonneville races. in 1913 the LINCOLIN HIGHWAY was routed from pensilvania to california. in utah and nevada it followed the stagecoach routs wich followed the pony express trail. my friend and i followed this trail from south of ely nv. 180 miles on a dirt road trail to just south of salt lake city, never saw another car or person the whole trip. on the way back from bonneville we got on another section of the road ,130 more miles on dirt trail, through indian terr, had to get permission to pass . about 75 miles out we passed a couple of cotten wood trees with a pickup truck with a man sitting in a chair in the bed ????????? met 2 cars this route, lot of wild horses. we rented a new FORD escape, on that trip over 300 miles of dirt and washboard and small bolders , it never had a rattle or any problem, great car. one of many wierd trips.....
