Eletric fuel pump to prime carbs.

I want to install a 12v 1.5 lbs electric fuel pump to prime the carbs while keeping the original fuel pump
.Do i need any check valve if I just hook the fuel pump to the main fuel supply? Which is plumber through the existing mechanic fuel pump. Thanks David

I used a Facet low pressure fuel pump between the tank and my mechanical pump and the mechanical pump will work without the electric pump on and visa versa
