Electric wiper motor

I am trying to get my wiper working, some of the previous owners work is a little sketchy. My wiring diagram only shows power to the wiper,, no switch of any kind. The PO had installed
A switch behind the dash rail, wire routed up through the post and then the wire was spliced into two wires entering the motor. I am assuming motor body ground. Are both wires entering the motor power? Doesn't make sense to have two, side by side. And how was the wiper originally controlled.
1929 Four door.

The Model A wipers are best used to achieve the original look as well as ornaments. For the best performance in rainy conditions use Rainex; far superior.

On my car there is a switch for the wiper motor at the motor. If there are two wires then one must be ground. I would suggest taking the motor out of the car and then use an ohm meter on the bench to sort things out. As for all electric motors the commutator must be clean and shinny and the brushes in good shape and the bearing oiled. My wiper motor was non functional when I bought the car but just needed some maintenance.

Thanks rotorwrench, as I suspected it is aftermarket.
After further inspection and removal, it appears that the PO had soldered the power wire and then when taping it up, just bundled the ground wire under the tape, counting on the wiper body for ground. As nokaminar suggested, I took it out, cleaned it up, found a broken wire inside, and cleaned and greased the gears. I am pretty confident it is going to work, testing today.
