I installed what is to be a flow through electric pump onmy 55 272 to save battery after sitting for 3 or 4 wks..Run pump for 20 secs or so and starts right up..Now when i had the car out today for the first highway run it seems to be running shy of fuel after a steady 50 to 55 MPH..Slow down to 30 35 seems OK...Going to check filter but it is almost new..Your thoughts barrners. PS Should I leave the pump on all the time? THNKS Harry

There is more effort required on the mechanical pump to draw thru the flow thru pump when it is not activated. Your mechanical pump sounds weak. Also, todays fuel is tough on many of the older pumps, including some of the less expensive new ones

your fuel pressure on the electric pump might be set to low if you have a fuel pressure regulator installed, you need 2 1/2# pressure at the carb my electric pump was set at #6 and was flooding the car, it felt like I was running out of fuel
