I started getting pop-ups from Ecklers. I saw an item for my A, and ordered it on the 3rd. I decided not to pay for express shipping and the invoice said delivery in the 8th. Still no parts.
Is this normal for them? Anyone have similar issues with Ecklers? I got an update yesterday saying the parts are delayed but no dates.
Yea I'm a little disappointed in them.

MAC's (Ecklers) is not really in the Model A business anymore. Their main thing is Corvettes, Cameros and Mustangs. Hope you can get your monies back.

Stick with the main vendors like Snyder's and Bert's.

Looks like the got another one.
Having joined in 2013 I would have thought you read at least some of the bad reviews on Mac's/Ecklers.

I guess I fell for the old saying... if it seems to good to be true.. it probably is.
I joined in 13, but the crew then was tough on new guys. The standard answer to any new guys questions was do a search, so I stayed away a long time. I'm glad to see they've mostly gone away.

I stopped buying from Macs in the 90's.I did buy a few things on specials and closeouts, but it's probably been 20 years since I did.The wait was what soured me on them.I know what you mean about the,'do a search' thing. That's helpful if it may be a subject that would give multiple answers to choose from, but for some it seems to be a go-to response. For some the response is,buy this or that book. That's good advice, but what good is a forum if it's just giving you advice on what and where to buy books? On the other hand, there have been guys who seem to use the forums as their oun personal shop manual. Their attitude is,why buy books when all these guys will answer me all day long for free? I've really only seen a little of that on the Model A forums, but have seen a lot of it on others.

And then there are those people who ABUSE the repair tents at MAFCA and other National meets.

They "trailer" their piece of junk to the meet and then claim that they broke down and expect to get it fixed for free!

To MAC's credit, IMO, they had one of the better catalogs, both paper and online, with the bolt sizes printed and the model numbers and pictures in the back. Also their online search engine is way better than most.

OUCH:eek:

I guess I'm too honest doing that would have never crossed my mind... but many Model A owners are cheap skates I CAN see that happening...

.A friend is mechanically going thru our Roadster and the cheap *** things the last guy did, the parts he left completely off, and the DANGEROUS mechanical parts he wrote off as 'good' is testament to this... that guy took every short cut imaginable and sold himself as a Model A Restorer....made the car a death trap..

ETAModel - in my experience, typical. Early 2020s I ordered a few things from Macs/Ecklers. After a bunch of no-ship, incomplete ship, lost ship and closing down Cartouche abruptly I gave up. It was no surprise, and no particular loss to me when they abandoned the Model A market. Good riddance. At least Brattons did a decent, well explained exit, not the “we don’t feel like it anymore, so screw you” that was Macs/Ecklers attitude. If they are now doing popups of Model A parts maybe they’re having second thoughts, but for me that bridge has been burned.

Yes. Order received on the mid June shipped four days later.
Haven't been able to get the web site to work since.

I didn't know that was a thing... when we met at Kerrville I left my A at home because I knew it needed repairs and didn't wanna chance it crapping out on me
But I've seen much guys be much cheaper than that. Just never was that guy.

I do have the Red and the Blue book by Les Andrew's. Also a reprint of the owner's manual for my '30 Town Sedan. I love to read and try to learn via reading. But the forum is a great source of knowledge.

It definitely is a thing, just a few folks, though.

The Eklers line is notoriously well known across the hobby. Not just Model A’s, but Vettes, Trucks, Tri-5, Falcons etc.

Simple Google search will return dozens of threads. Missing and incomplete orders, involuntary back orders, inflated shipping and extremely poor customer service.

As the OP discovered, there are better, far more reliable vendors.

Ecklers have been having sales of Model A parts.
Some, I think, were %80 off.
Obviously, trying to run out old stock.
However, their web site now simply doesn't work.
Maybe, this is for those *?@# foreigners?

Update, I went to the website and canceled my order... maybe soon I'll get a refund.

Fingers crossed , they took 6 + months too refund me , this was many years ago , years ago they had good looking catalogs , their model A parts were ok similar to JC Whitney etc , when your poor and pennies are hard to come by cheap substandard parts are all you could afford ?!

@Big Hammer. I for an email today stating I got a refund. Really surprised me. I just got off the Snyders website. I ordered 7 items, some spares, some I need. I've used them before, I'm not worried about their products or Shipping.
Now if the weather would drop below 100F.

Most of you are very familiar with the derogatory meaning of the “C” word relating to a woman's body part. I consider Eckler’s the derogatory “E” word when it comes to the Model A world!!!

I would move your designated female anatomy location back an inch or two for a more accurate descriptive term (The exact measurement is not available at the moment). The couple times I called Eckler's to place orders while the business was still in New York were less than satisfactory from a customer service standpoint. I had always heard how rude New Yorkers were, but I didn't believe it until those phone calls. See the "C" word in "Fullraceflathead's" post above. The women manning the phones were rude, impatient, condescending and fully embodied everything I had been warned to expect. I think my wife knows more about Model A's than these New "Yawker" bimbos, but they acted as if they were the last word in Model A parts. I guess Eckler's was so successful that they didn't need to treat phone customers like humans wanting to spend lots of money to keep them employed. I never called back or placed an order with them and took my tens of thousands of dollars in ordered parts over the years elsewhere, where my business and dollars were welcome. Power corrupts; absolute power corruptions absolutely. In their little fiefdom with a modicum of "power", these women proved why much of America hates New York City. I sure hope the rest of New Yorkers aren't like these B*tches from Hell were to me. Unless you're the only one selling water in the middle of the Sahara Desert, you can't treat customers like that and expect to stay in business.
There - I feel better now after years of grumbling to myself about how I was treated by the friendly folks at Eckler's. It appears from all the negative comments, I didn't miss much.
