Echlin/NAPA IR1 constant voltage regulator info?

I purchased an Echlin/NAPA/BWD IR1 constant voltage regulator (12v) to save some instruments from frying. There are no markings on the unit and I dont want to put it in backwards (little sucker abt size of thumb cost $45-65.00) and ruin it. Single female terminal has red dot next to it. Double male terminal has a blue dot next to it.
Anyone use one in their vehicle? and can tell me which way it is installed?

I get my regs. from 60's 70's ford cars and trucks at a wrecking yard they generally either work or dont, they are made up of a bimetal contact that makes and breaks at about 6.8 volts or near that amount, I also calibrate my gauges when changing from 6 to 12volts. I sent you a p.m on how I do mine when I do a voltage change.
