So I was casually scrolling the bay and noticed that for my 57 ford station wagon. And holly cow! Does everybody think they have gold in them thar parts? Usually I can tell what a good/decent/fair price is for a part. But now everybody is 100+ on even the smallest item. Granted I have been off of it for awhile but sheez....

I hear ya Mike. But when I start saying WOW...What Prices! I remind myself how grateful I am that the part is even available. I just prioritize what is most important and do without the rest. This is an expensive hobby!

I'm glad to be done with my car. I'd hate to go looking for stuff now. I still have a room full of leftovers that would likely fetch a fair price - and I'm not gonna try & get rich from them. The room I'd have by getting rid of it is worth more to me. I used to sell a lot of stuff on ebay but haven't in over 15 years. I guess it's time to get back at it.

I know they have hefty fees on the bay so that may be the reason prices are so high. I have seen stuff cheaper on MP and CL. But, like I said I am just trying to find a fair price-not an inflated one.

I think less folks are using flea-pay now days with more than a few options out there to choose from. If the price is too high, just keep checking all the other sources. Eventually, a good price will pop up. I've searched for quite a while on some parts but then I've been lucky I guess. A person can fab a part to get by in some cases until a good OEM part shows up.

Mike. Here in SoCal we been lucky to find parts cars locally. Put a list out on the 57 forum and also check FB marketplace. What parts are you looking for?

As far as eBay prices. I do the research and figure out what I would want to pay for something and try to hold out till I find that price. I recently did that loookig for some headlight buckets.

I would say there are some sellers that want gold prices and some just want to get rid of stuff. I usually look at prices as to how hard it would be to find and remove myself if at a yard. Then shipping. Ouf. I always pass on sellers with good prices but have exorbitant shipping.
I recently saw a rant about the cost of shipping materials, handling and taking to the shipped. Some how some/most sellers figure it out.

I just was snooping. Yeah if I look at $10 part with $50 shipping-pass. If I find a good deal on trim or hard to find parts I will grab them. I will have to start hitting the swap meets harder-darn. May have go back down to turlock.....
