Ebay phaeton

There is an early 28, AR phaeton for sale on Ebay today. Looks like it needs some vinegar in the cooling system for a month or so, but other than that, it looks really nice. I'd love to see it in person.

Interesting that the Buy It Now is $25,000 and the price is $20,000 in the description.

The light/horn switch looks like an on-off-dim but it has no wording on it. That would make it a second generation one which would be about right for its vintage.

The front end has a few changes. The front bumpers are not even Model A.

Overall it looks like a real nice car.

Carl,
I tried that but my link was 4 lines long and would not hyperlink. Thanks.
I just clicked on it and it took me straight there. If that doesn't work, just log on to eBay (or even Google) and do a search on the item # that Jamie put in post #2.

I saw pretty much saw the same things. Even though it's a little more interesting (not so "non nondescript") being an early '28, it sure seems pricy for a typical driver. Maybe I'm now "out of touch" with the market but on the other hand it may be within the range of snagging a novice.

Nice 1928.....
From Henry's Lady, page 59: "The open end bumper was used on earliest Model A only. Although records authorized them for first 200 cars only, ...car number 797 had open end bumper on front, closed on rear." The bumper looks correct to me.

Late Model T bumpers were a bit shorter than "A" bumpers which is quite noticeable when familiar. "Henry's Lady" was a fun book I spent money on I really couldn't afford when I was a kid. It turned out to be a good picture book but not great for legitimate information. I do believe however that the book can still help interest folks in the hobby.

Looks nice, the Belltown Meet was one of the biggest and best in Connecticut at the time this car was shown, that says something about the cars quality. Bob

You'll probably guess that I'm a noob, but.. Which of the photos in that ad shows something that makes it "Looks like it needs some vinegar in the cooling system for a month or so" ? Or is that a standard procedure for a car that's been parked a while?
Thanks- Greg

Vinegar will disolve the rust in your block and radiator. You have to leave it in for about a month and also drive it, to warm it up. Then drain well,(not on your concrete drive), then nuertalize it with baking soda.

Take a look at all the rust, particularly around the water pump, evidently from
rusty water leaking from the pump.
