eBay / PayPal - Again

Well I just hit the ranks of thoes that have been cut off because I spent more than the alloted amount. I've only been using them for about 10 years, and now all of a sudden I hit their limit. I guess my eBay / PayPal days are over!

I think it is just a pre set limit where they just want second re-verification of who you are.

A bit like if someone stole a card or number and used it, they cannot steal more than that amount.

I had the same thing happen to me when I reached ( I think $5000..maybe $1000 can't rem) and all it was a re-verification needed to prove it was me.

Pooch stated it correctly. You can call paypal and they will ask a few questions and then they will reset your limit like it was if thats what you want and then you are good to go. I had to do it a while back.

A visa card with a limit (say 10K) can be used over and over and paid off up to that amount forever.

For some reason paypal have an accumulative amount.

Each item bought keeps on adding up until it reaches its limit and stops working until you re-verify.

It did come as a bit of a surprise to me years ago, when I was only buying piddly stuff and just putting it on paypal with attached credit card and paying all of my card every month, and after a couple of years. bought something worth maybe $200 and paypal notifies me, not enough funds in account , or credit card denied or words to that effect.

pooch , i like your post picture .kinda neat. I did away with pay-pal 2 years ago. I email the seller and tell him or her to check my feedback. And i pay with U.S.Money orders only and within 3 to 4 day they have it in their hands. Most if not all of My feed backs state [a fast payer].I have yet to be turned down. Just another thing to worry about if you deal in pay-pal ...

The amount they told me is $5K, but now they want my checking account # in order to reset it. I'm still not sure I want to do that. With a CC, at least you have BoA or whomever there to set things straight, with a bank account, it's just me!

Good luck on the PO money orders. Just have one get lost. I had two get lost that were mailed the same day. You have to wait 6 months to get your money back and pay $5 to have them see if your MO has been cashed. I pay with personal check and tell the seller I'll wait or paypal.

Ha, ha. I got a call Sunday night from a guy in Kansas who said he just now got the $259 MO I mailed him in 2008. He said he'd mail it back to me. I'm still waiting on the $50 one that got lost and I couldn't find the receipt for.

They already have your bank account number. CC are backups.

Yeh, I have to change my auto bank a/c pay thru paypal to CC backup pay every purchase, no big deal.

Not sure if I can change pay by CC auto, will look.

I reckon CC and paypal is the safest.

Pooch, in Australia, I'd be using direct deposit. It cuts out paypal all together and you have definate proof of payment, as well as back-up from the banking sector when someone claims non-payment.

I guess i have been very lucky . i have over 340 with 250 buy's on ebay with Money order payments i believe and never i had one lost.

We no longer accept or recommend PAYPAL.

Oh yes. My paypal just did this. Sold some parts that was paid to my paypal. Paypal online said to transfer your funds just type in the amount to transfer to your bank account. Only problem is, the paypal screen only had a line to add the cents, not the dollars to transfer. Hence you couldn't enter the amount to transfer.

Ended up just buying stuff I needed and eliminated the balance. I guess if you do that across the board to the millions on paypal there is a bunch of money you can sit on. Probably collecting interest. Money for nothing.
