ebay fees! LOL

Alex, as Keith says I use CL and FB. No they arent perfect, but Im not under the thumb
of greedy ebay.
as mentioned, ebay really treats the sellers poorly.

I think what you're seeing is that eBay sets its rules like a marketplace where the sellers are businesses, so they're accepting certain risks and costs in return for being able to charge a higher upfront price. Craigslist and Marketplace are oriented more toward traditional classified ad sellers, so the expected prices are lower but there's also a lot more friction in the transactions. If you're not doing that many transactions, and closing them isn't that important to you, you may not mind.

I sell on eBay. Craigslist used to be great, but FB Marketplace has kind of killed it a bit. However, FB Marketplace is one place I'll never buy or sell. You have to register and log in just to view the item? Then use their app to communicate? Ebay is similar, I get that, but it's not much different than being an actual business and registering for a credit card terminal to do business. Some things you can't avoid if you want to buy or sell like a business. Ebay is not a social media site. FB is a social media site that ties in a bunch of your info and history to, I'm not part of that. If you think eBay is greedy, you should dig deeper into Meta.....

Craigslist was the best, and it's truly unfortunate that we gave up that for Zuckerberg's empire to control all things on the internet. CL didn't require you to register, didn't require an app to communicate, didn't require you to sign in to view things, didn't require personal data to verify and create an account. You could use your phone number, your email address, and they even automatically made them anonymous if you wanted.

I agree with much of what you say Hitman, but being on FB doesnt mean you need to socialize. I dont. I just buy and sell, end of story.

everyone should also realize that ebay (did) own at least 25% of CL. Well they bought a dying business. In these times, FB is gaining mkt share from ebay- mainly due to fees.

This isn't a real stat, you just made this up.

In reality, Marketplace is now starting to list eBay items as well.

One place FB Marketplace is doing very well is in Asia. But in the US, if you want to sell to anyone more than 100 miles away from you, it's eBay or nothing.

FB worth 1.8 trillion..............

ebay maybe 45 billion

hello??????????????????????????????????????????????????

I know, apples and oranges but

after ebay invested 100 million in china, they had to shut down. Alex, pls do some reading. there is a reason less and less sellers are using ebay.
