Early Mercury block vs 59A

The 41 block I showed with 8 sleeves that been sitting since mid 90's in Sweden ( came from a imported car from US ) is now std bore and aproxmatly sleeve OD is 1/8" over std.
Either did Ford installed sleeve and it was a case in casting and they sleeved it ( but it do sound odd to me )
Weld is one thing but a 8 sleeve to get it to std sounds strange.
I can remove sleeve and pressuare check it at + 1/8" over std and hope I don't see holes from a bad casting.
What confuse me is 8 sleeves.
Ok, I can also hone it + std ( depending on wear so 010 to 030 over) and pressuare check it but it's feel 'more' racy' with bigger bore.

I bought this lower engine block a few years ago and was told it was 59ab like. I did not know what I was looking at. No "59" cast in the bell area. This is what is there. Does anyone know what I have? January 31st, 1944, 11th hour? It is bored out .060, has aluminum pistons, and adjustable lifters. I bought it because I did not know the condition if the engine in my car, which as I know now does same to run ok.

Intresting, lets see what will come up.
Maybe a later Merc as they might been the same as the Ford 59 but another casting number ?

As I can only see the bell housing and that it appears to have the industrial/WWII oil return port, I'm guessing a WWII industrial/truck block. This could be the same type of block that I purchased (in a crate from WWII) for my 32 Cabriolet. It would be almost the same as a 41/42 Merc - if it is what I think it is.

I'd like to know the bore size and see a picture of the deck - then I'll know for sure.

My Mercury block as I think is a 41 ( could be a 42 aswell ) has no plus in oil rail and the tringle holes in deck ( centre round ) and rised intake.
I has a mock-up block and its a 59 marked ( se picture ) but I don’t se any bulps in the lower part of the block above the oil rail ( block has a pan on and in a stand so I cant see if any plugs )
When I searched on picture on internet I see on the 59 block has the 'bulps' on the lower part of the block and one block had centre plugs ( qty = 2 ) and another had bulps and ( qty = 4 ) plugs.
-Any thoughts on this. Info.

I'll just checked this 59 as on pictures above I has.
No plus on oil pain rail.
That tell me the 40's Ford 59 had no plugs.

My early Mercury block has no plugs ( guess 41 ) but it has rised intake.

But the Merc 42 block, had thoose 4 plugs and still rised intake ?

But what about the Mercury 39/40, so far I know they did not had rised intake, but did they had plugs, if so how many ?

On pictuture I saw ( internet ) had just 2 centred plugs, what blocks is that ?

Look at the exhaust ports, Hank. It has a lot of differences to "our" type of flatheads. Could it be a 60hp? Or a prototype? Is it just a photo you found?

Edit: I googled V860 block and found pics that look like that.

Yes, I was just searching on the plugs.
Yes, maybe a 60 HP block.

Still I wonder if the 39/40 Merc block had plugs.
I know 41 did not but 42 had 4 plugs.
Ford 59 had no plugs.

Ok so the 1939 ( and 40 ? ) had 4 plugs but no rised intake.
So thats is the most cool blocks ?
Odd that 41 had no plugs but plugs was back 42 ?

I has a buddy in Sweden who think he has a 1942 block ( 4 plugs ) but they milled of the rised intake, but maybe he has a 99 block ? ( 1939 )
Number is grinded off on upper back part.
That is what some did on my ( 41 ) block aswell.
How can he see he has a 42 from 39 or 40 ?

All these details are described in the thread I linked in my last post.
The core plugs in the oil pan rails were used through 1940 on USA produced blocks. 1941 and later USA blocks do not have core plugs in the oil pan rails.
