Early Dist. with Tach. Drive Info Wanted

I have an early V8 divers helmet style distributor with a tach. drive or something out the front. To me it looks factory & is very well done. In all my years, I've never seen another like it. I'd like to know what application it was from & what it is worth. If someone wants to post photos, contact me by email (xk120(at)persona.ca) & I'd be happy to send them to you. I think it would be really cool in someones project cracker box or rod.
I'd like to know a little more about it before I offer it for sale.

I made one of those back in about 1958 or 59. I have never seen a Ford produced part with that arrangement.
 
If it does prove to have been done factory style and not through welding and machining, I would suspect some obscure wartime application if 1937-41 type as Canada built flatheads for all sorts of uses, gnerators, specialized vehicles, armor, etc. during the war.
