Early Block Question

I've read some of the recent talk about 59A type blocks. I had a question posed to me just yesterday....a fellow has a 24-stud block that is 221 CI (3 1/16 inch bore)...it has the raised section on which the intake manifold sits and has the bulges running along the pan rails. This block has sleeves in every bore. His question was, "Can I pull the sleeves and bore the block out to 239 CI (3 3/16 inches)?" My guess is that since it is a 24 stud engine, you can. Is that correct? Thanks for your wisdom..........Richard

In 1958 I did that very thing with my 1940 Ford 2dr.It worked well and did not run hot.Hope that answers your question.
