I ran across this artical in another publication. I had never hear of this before. Ol Henry would do anything to sell a car. It seems the chrome wasn't in great supply so he delivered the first 46 cars with wooden bumpers, to be replaced by the dealers at a later time. Try to pull that off today.

Our across the street neighbor got a new 46 Ford 4 door, 6 cyl and it came with wooden bumpers. I will never forget that car, it was light gray and the man had a very unusual name,"Red Cross"!!!!
