E'28 Pickup Bed

Have been told that the early open (maybe closed as well) pickup ‘bed’ had a pair of wood strips (approx. ¾ x 1 x 12) carriage bolted vertically to the front panel of the bed to prevent the bed from rubbing against the rear panel of the cab. If anyone can substantiate this I would like to know the start/end dates. Would also appreciate photos posted/email of these in place. I would assume they were in place before the bed was painted thus would be bed color.

Hi Chuck,
As you know my truck is a 6/6/28 and I had the bed down to bare metal. No Holes in the front panel anywhere. There were 4 holes for a liscence plate in the tailgate but that had to do with the street rodder I bought it from.
Check with Doc???

Hi Chuck,
I have 1/2" between the bed and the cab all the way across. On each end there is a bracket and because of the bracket it narrows down to about 7/16" but it could never wear or even touch unless it got hit and bent wih a heavy object.
