Duel temp gauge restoration

I am fairly new to ford barn and have a question for the experts.
Can a 35 temp gauge be dismantled and used to restore a 34 duel temp fuel gauge? Are the dimensions the same?

Problem # 1 will be the fact a 33-34 dual temp fitting is female . 35 is male to screw into the pump . If you just want function and don't care about the probe in the waterpump [ 35 ] instead of the probe in the hose [ 33-34 ] the next issue is the way the line comes out the back of a 33-34 . See pics . I don't have any of that modern 35 stuff to look at :D but I'm pretty sure a 35 just drops straight down ? . Anyways there's folks here much bettern me at that newer stuff so izza otta hear . QUOTE=Flathead37;518968]I am fairly new to ford barn and have a question for the experts.

This is what I kind of understand. The one sending unit on one of the heads reads the temperature and the the other is kind of a switch that flickers the gauge in the car when the temperature gets above a certain limit. I am no expert on this subject and this is from something I read as a small child in third grade. I might have been a little older than third grade. You can not remove one temperature and replace with one on the other side.

I think some expert will clarify this issue. At least I hope they will help. GM, Skip and old Ron plus ten more plus maybe Bubba will have the real facts.

I just read your post again.I did not realize you were talking gauge and they were not electrical. My mistake for poor reading comprehension. The nuns at St. Pats mentioned this issue when I was in first grade.

I have put NOS 35-36 temp units in 32-34 dual temp gauges.Takes time a patience. Before the NOS unit is installed the 32-34 nut can be switched from the old to the new or use the 35-36 nut if you are running a later flathead or overhead motor. If you have the original hose fitting from the 32-34 I would reuse that female nut.

Back about 25 years ago Rudy Faltermeier reproduced the dual temp gauges (excellent units). He sold his business to Randy Stebbbins, (602) 978-1746. You might try Randy. Remember that the oil indicator is an off/on indicator that tells you when you when the oil pressure is falls below a certain level (like a modern idiot light) and not the oil pressure.
