Dual updraft carburetors

It seems like many here have run the inline setup successfully. I'm looking for some specific advice related to using this setup with Marvel carburetors. I think Purdy Swoft mentioned he's run this specific setup, but I notice he hasn't been on the forum since 2024.

I'd like to use the Marvel's because I was happy with the performance of the Marvel on a stock intake. I also have 3 in running condition tested on their own.

Unfortunately Purdy Swoft passed away years ago.

How about a couple side draft SU carburetors? I like the engine with the hair dryer attached.

A single with 1 3/4 throat would be enough. They're 245 cfm so it should be enough to about 3800 rpm.
And then we could start a whole new thread on which oil to use in your SU.....

Depending on the machinery you have available to you, they could be sand cast out of aluminum or welded up out of steel. With today's fuels you do not need the heat exchanger that the original manifold has.

Herb, As far as I know, no one makes a manifold for using SU carburetors on a Model A. You would have to make one or get someone to make one for you.

The viscosity of the oil in an SU determines how the engine accelerates. Heavy oil will retard the opening of the throat and provide a richer mixture during acceleration.
