Dual pulley alternator

Guys, I want to convert my 64 Fairlane from a generator to an alternator, using the stock Ford brackets. It has factory AC with a dual pulley generator. I want to use a GM one wire alernator; does anyone know what GM application uses a dual pulley, or where I can buy a dual pulley for a GM alternator? Thanks!

check and see if your gen .pulley will fit the alt , I have found out on diffrent applications some of the pulley's swapped out , I had to shim some of them out for alignment but to my surprise they worked, I keep a lot of old pulleys and gen. and alt. parts for the same reason. try a re- builder in your area. I had to ream one alt dual pulley out to fit a one wire. let me know what the dia. is you need and total shaft length and the amount of thread area, what I'm trying to say is usable shaft length and I'll see what I can find in my stash, I dont know what all is out there, I just built a 65 Mustang and used a larger dia. pulley similar in dia. as the hi-po 289 motor and it works great, I believe it is from a truck alt.
good luck!

The GM and Ford alternator pulleys interchange with each other if you have a local shop that rebuilds alternators and starters they will have some in their stash pile,or you could order your one wire alternator from DB Electrical 1-800-753-2242 and specify a dual pulley,a plain finish 105amp is $62.95 they have a deal on now for a chrome 110amp for $59.95,adapting to the stock brackets will require a little imagination on your part I did mine with a piece of threaded rod and some small pieces of conduit for spacers to align things.

Thanks everyone, and especially you, Jeff. I wonder if you did your 54 the same way I did my 55; I used all thread and washers with an early GM three wire alt, amazingly easy and looked good on the old Y-block. Good lookin' 54 by the way!
