Dual Gauge Holders

Their must be a master electrician in the family. Great wiring job.

.
I made my own out of some 1.5mm sheet stock. Cost me nothing, where-as the bought ones are quite expensive here.

A few days ago,I picked up an Equus brand mechanical temp guage at Princess Auto,a Canadian chain that carrys stuff you cant find elseware. It was only$6.99 complete with holder & fittings. To adapt the holder to fit the A,I cut a strip of tin can about 3/4"X4" &drilled the mounting holes & dimpled them for the screws & soldered it to the top of the guage holder& fitted it to lower panel screws.I routed the line thru terminal box & upper RH notch on cover to rad brace rod & over to fitting in pipe in middle of top rad hose. Works like a charm!

I've got the one that mounts under the dash panel - and yes I had to bend my repro shift lever to clear it (I didn't like how close mine came to the dash anyway) the plating was crap anyway, so the end of a crescent wrench and slowly (cold) bent it where I wanted it. I was going to go the column mount route, but couldn't think of a good way to hide everything.

Old gauge holder with new gauges. Also used stainless to finish off the sides for a neater appearance

We use the APCO gauge holder that mounts to the steering column. It should work with either of the column brackets. It will hold the modern gauges which is what we use. On one car there is a temp gauge and oil pressure, on another there is a temp gauge and a tach.

I tried to use the APCO gage holder on my late 31 PU, but since I had a Signal Stat already there, it was just too much in the same space. I bought a column mount 2-gage holder from Berts and modified it to fit my application, mounted it just behind the column support. Has an Autometer tach and temp gage in it.

I just installed a Temp Gauge and an Oil Pressure Gauge from Snyder's and got the Holder that mounts under the dash panel. HOWEVER, The Gearshift Lever hits the ignition key when I put it in reverse, so I'll have to mount the holder farther down under the dashboard and bend the mounting tabs in also. Does anyone bend their Shift Lever to accomodate the gauges???? P.S. The Oil Press. Gauge reads about 4 lbs. It just looks better for balance.
Yo, bobpo,
I always have to bend my shifter to accomodate my leg braces. With my dandy propane torch, I heat it to slightly cherry red:eek: in the fat bend at the bottom of the stick and pull/push to get it just right & "polish" the blued area with 2,000 grit sandpaper.:D Bill W.

Carl,
A friend used large P.V.C. pipe end caps for guage mounts. Just drill a hole for mounting it and the screw goes from the inside. Looked pretty spiffy.
