Dual Bulb Head Lights

My 1920 Runabout head lights have two bulb sockets in each. The normal center one, with two pins, and a second one half way up the reflector on the top center, with two pins.. I haven't seen them like this before. How are they wired and what can you tell me about them. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the 6511CX lamps correct for 1919-1920 cars equipped with a starter. That's all I can tell you besides I've been looking for a set for my 1919 Runabout.

While I've never seen the 2 bulb set up you have here's a few questions: You say each bulb has 2 contacts. If there's only one filament in the bulb the 2 contacts are power and ground as the T can loose the head lamp ground through rusting of the lamp mount at the attaching point it may be "insurance". Next: are both bulbs the same? Perhaps different numbers or appearance? I'm thinking one is low beam and the other is high.

Photos of the 1919-20 6511CX for starter cars, the bucket has socket (double pin) for the bright bulb 21cp and a rubber grommet hole for the wire going to the second bulb. That bulb socket is also a double pin, and is contained in the reflector with a clip.

The upper bulb is 3cp and is operated with the 'dim' position of the dash switch. The 'bright' switch position works the high beam 21cp. That is how the early versions worked!

My bad, posted the wrong wiring diagram for the double bulb head lamps.

Here is the correct one.
