Driving in July 4th parade tips

I get to the parade route one hour early, cruise along at 35-40 mph, no traffic, no over heating, no crowds...I'm in and out in five minutes.
And I eat the candy. :)

who do u wave to

I park in a nice shady spot, pull out the lawn chair, enjoy a cold soda and wave to the over heating, clutch burning parade as it slowly makes it way past.

Just kidding, haven't had my A near long enough to even consider joining in a parade, plus, mines not as pretty as some of yours, just primer and bare bone interior.

did anyone ever participate in a parade where the kids threw the candy back at the cars?
Happened so much that around here most places dont allow throwing candy, they require you to walk along and hand it out, if you so desire.
I have a friend that puts all his in a clean? bedpan and hands it out to the kids. Most of them take it, without a blink, but he gets some funny looks from some of the parents sometimes.:)

Because of overheating problems in years past, our local parade organizers run the vintage cars at the front, right behind the color guard. Resolves the overheating, stop & go, and clutch problems. Plus, the crowd is more excited at the start of the parade.

To answer Mitch, no candy thrown back at my car but during the Christmas parade a few years ago had them throw beads back hitting my car...

Well driving in the parade was a success no over heating problems. She did run hot but no steam. I did what all suggested and would rev engine in neutral for a minute here and there. What it did do towards the end of the route was a lot of bucking. I could not be in first gear and go 5 mph with out the car bucking so I would have to keep pushing in the clutch and rev her some as she was loosing her idle. I imagine this was because the engine was getting all carboned up. Is it okay just to clean these plugs up or do I need new ones? As a bonus I got second prize.

When the plugs are black and fuzzy, just clean them. I use a small wire brush on the outside, and a small file that will go down into the anulus around the electrode. Scrape out all the carbon and it is like a new plug. Too many people keep putting in new plugs.

Do you think the car was bucking and loosing idle was caused by the fowling plugs - seemed low on power after I left the parade too.

If you were using corn crap gas I'd bet the gas was boiling. If you were using good gas, then I'd look to the plugs being sooty.

Your probably running to rich...recheck your plugs under normal circumstances
Maybe a hotter plug or combo issue
