driver door handle won't come out

My experiance says that door handles should pull straight out after the screws holding it are removed. My 1929 Canadian Tudor does not function this way. The handle pulls out approximately an inch and a half and doesn't want to move further. Is there anything else that must be removed or should I use force. i am thinking about the lock bolt, but tried in both positions to no avail.

Turn it 45 degrees after you get it part way out.

like 700rpm said turn the handle about 45 degree and pull an jiggle at the same time they will come out.

Holding the latch in while turning the handle with the door open gets them off.

Some Kroil sprayed on the shaft also helps. Grease all moving parts when you have the latch out.
