Does anyone know a good mechanic in the Pomona California area to diagnose and fix a bad knocking noise I have in my 1935 5 window rear end?

Don't know any mechanics in California, but it should not be too hard to figure out. Please describe the circumstances when the noise occurs. All the time? Only under load? Only when turning? Varies with speed? Once per wheel revolution, or more rapid than that? Drain the differential gear oil into a shallow pan and describe what you find. Fair chance there will be some gear fragments.

Finding a mechanic who knows how to correctly install a ring gear and pinion could be a challenge.

Try contacting your local Early Ford V8 Club chapter and see who they recommend. You also might ask who they don't recommend. When you find someone be sure to check them out in the archives.

Thanks, it is a constant rubbing scraping type sound, like something is dragging in the torque tube not in the differential gears I think.
